Hip-hop is a genre that is based off competition. While record sales and awards are the main forces of face off today, there is always one test that will excite fans everywhere when it happens: a rap battle. Recently hip-hop looks to be more focused on stepping back into the battle grounds as the first ever hip-hop battle rap pay-per-view, “Total Slaughter,” provided a venue for those with bars to put them on display against other heralded rhymers.

In addition to the hip-hop PPV, battles are sliding back into mainstream focus as the BET Hip-Hop Awards weekend will feature a battle rap event featuring some of the hardest spitters in the game. Adding to the support of the duke it out art form, Snoop Dogg is sponsoring the BET revival.
