Jay Bilas Meets Jeezy

What’s more exciting for Jay Bilas than the recent NBA Draft? How about meeting his favorite rapper Jeezy. Bilas, a ESPN College Basketball Analyst, is known for his daily tweets including lyrics from the Snowman and the send off of “I gotta go to work,” displaying he is an avid fan of the rapper’s work.

Vibe Magazine pulled a surprise for Bilas by bringing him in to allegedly recite his favorite Jeezy lyrics only to be surprised by the rapper. This was the first time the two met which led to conversation about what drew Bilas to the music of Jeezy.

The thing that drew me to Jeezy’s music was the hard edge to it,” Bilas shared. “When I’ve mention his name on the air I call him the urban philopsher. It’s poetic, there’s poetry to it.”

After catching on to his tweets, Jeezy shared that he crafted his Jay Bilas shout out on E-40‘s “Function” to see if he would catch it.

“I think it was what he was saying along with what I was saying. He was giving you some words of encouragement, but the real part to me was the ‘I gotta go to work.,'” Jeezy stated. That mean I got to get out here and grind. That’s what my music is about.”

In the conversation between the two, Bilas shared how his Jeezy tweets started and some of his favorite hip-hop pieces. Check out the meeting between the two and some tweets from Bilas on the next page.
