N.W.A. Biopic Casted

The upcoming film, Straight Outta Compton, that will chronicle the legendary group N.W.A. has added two additional actors to join the son of Ice Cube, O’Shea Jackson Jr. Adding to the biopic from F. Gary Gray, Marcus Callender will portray Dr. Dre as Eazy-E will be played by Jason Mitchell.

Marcus Callender is a actor and alum of New York’s Shakespeare Lab, who is trained at his craft, however, The Hollywood Reporter states original choice for the spot was Michael B.  Jordan of Fruitvale Station fame. Due to scheduling conflicts with his Fantastic Four project he was not available to contribute in the film.

Jason Mitchell landed his gig as Eazy-E by lasting through a rigorous screen test. A native of New Orleans, Mitchell was featured in small roles in both Broken City and Contraband, but this new role looks to be his break.

The earlier mentioned, O’Shea Jackson, will take on the task of being his father in the film. Straight Outta Compton will be produced by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the widow of Eazy E, Tomica Woods-Wright. The biopic will provide detail in the early stages of N.W.A. and is currently without an official release date.
