Sound Engineer Extorts Jay Z

Try to extort Jay Z and it won’t end in your favor. That’s what Chauncey Mahan found out after he tried to dip into the Forbes heavyweight’s stash for $100,000. TMZ reports Mahan was in possession of some of Jigga’s masters from the years 1998 to 2002 which he held in a storage locker in Northridge, California.

How would Mahan get the 100K? He contacted Live Nation and made the request for the money and he would let them go. After being talked down to $75,000, he agreed to meet with who he thought would be representatives for Jay Z but instead was welcomed by LAPD. Mahan was questioned and handed over the tapes to LAPD who are holding them until a judge gives ownership to one of the two parties.

Turning the extortion case into a hip-hop history lesson, frequent Jay Z producer, Just Blaze took to Twitter to share some light on some of the failures of Chauncey over the years, which resulted in the emergence of Young Guru. Check out Just’s brief stories on the next page.
