After writing one of the happiest songs in recent memory, Pharrell was reduced to tears during his great interview with Oprah.

Skateboard P sat down with the legendary talk show host in last night’s episode of Oprah Prime on her OWN Network, and was completely moved by a video shown to him of his fans dancing to his chart-topping single, “Happy.” The singer said that he was at his lowest point when he wrote the song for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.

“It’s not because you’re that good,” Pharrell said. “It’s because you’re out of ideas.”

In the interview, Pharrell also talked about his critically-acclaimed new album G I R L, and his wedding last year with model and designer Helen Lasichanh.
