The celebration of Illmatic‘s 20th anniversary is no longer just tied to music. The day after Nas releases Illmatic XX, a documentary on the making of his classic debut will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Time Is Illmatic was directed by One9 and written by Erik Parker and “delves into the making of Illmatic; the social conditions that created it; and the music legacy passed down from Nas’ Mississippi-born father and celebrated jazz musician, Olu Dara.”
