TDE’s lovely first lady SZA dropped her long-awaited debut project Z just a day ago, and the interwebs are already chatting up a storm.

Before 2014 got started, Top Dawg, the leader of the TDE empire, vowed to fans that we would receive 6 different projects from the West Coast conglomerate before the year would end. It started off in late January with Isaiah Rashad’s powerful Cilvia Demo, followed by the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed debut from ScHoolboy Q deemed Oxymoron. Both of these albums excelled expectationally and it’s quite obvious that the year is starting off nicely for the TDE collective.

Now, with those two in the bag, the next focus for Top Dawg Entertainment is on the first lady SZA and her TDE debut Z. The 10-track EP is cohesive, hypnotizing (in a good way), and well worth the wait — SZA’s in a lane of her own. After listening through the soulful offering a couple times, here are 5 key things we took away from the new album.
