A tragedy occurred in the middle of the night at SXSW as an intoxicated driver plowed through a crowd of people in his car attempting to get away from the police. The incident unfortunately killed two people and injured 23 people.

CNN reports the suspect is in custody and facing two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault by vehicle after the dangerous drunk driving spree. Seems like this person should look to a DUI and criminal lawyer for advice in this kind of situation.

Before plowing through the crowd of people, the same driver drove in the wrong direction on a one-way street and nearly hit an officer. No doubt there were DUI arrests seen aplenty that day, but this is a very sad case indeed.

Pablo Vazquez, a witness to the tragedy, stated to CNN’s New Day “The car barely missed me… I was less than a foot away,” before adding “I saw some folks die.” Those involved in car accidents, either as drivers, passengers, or pedestrians, who are ultimately injured in the incident, may want to reach out for legal help from the likes of the Billy Johnson Law Firm in order to take action against the negligent party responsible.

The incident engulfed social media with photos of the aftermath of the incident as well as videos of accident as it occurred. Check out coverage of the incident in the video above.
