It’s Valentine’s Day and usually, you would see some of the best hip-hop love songs. Instead, we’ve decided to put together a list of some of the mushiest rap songs of all time. From gangsta personas to corny yet memorable hooks, let’s take a dive into the songs that unleash the inner simp.

5. 50 Cent (Feat. Olivia) – “Best Friend”

Before this song dropped on the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ soundtrack, 50 Cent was the tough-talking gangsta rapper. Apparently men who’ve been shot nine times and live to spit about it need besties too, you know?

4. Bow Wow (Feat. Ciara) – “Like You”

This mushy jam dropped in 2005 when Bow Wow and Ciara were in a highly publicized relationship. The two called it quits a year later, but the musical damage was already done. Now, the song may not seem as sappy as it was nine years ago, but it’s heavy radio rotation back in 2005 made me want to slap myself with the nearest SAT textbook.

3. Baby Bash (Feat. Frankie J) – “Suga Suga”

If you don’t remember this track, let me refresh your memory. This is the song that they use to play at your high school dance when you couldn’t dance too close to the girl you were trying to mack (or was it just my high school?). Either way, Baby Bash and Frankie J’s “Suga Suga” makes the list for Mushiest Rap Songs of All Time. Mix Frankie J singing “You have me lifted, shifted higher than the ceilin’ / And ooohwee, it’s the ultimate feelin’” with Baby Bash rapping “Girl, you keep it so fly, with your sweet honey buns,” and you have the recipe for a mush-tastrophe.

2. Drake – “Best I Ever Had”

Drake’s So Far Gone mixtape singlehandedly brought back the light-skin versus dark-skin power struggle with its standout simp track, “Best I Ever Had.” Sure, I’m a big Drake fan, but this track is softer than a Build-A-Bear workshop. The only reason why this song didn’t make it to number one on this list is because of the video, which we happily attached to this post.

1. LL Cool J – “I Need Love”

The same legendary MC who made the classic track “Momma Said Knock You Out” rap-sung the sappiest rap song of all time. For starters, not only is the song title soft, but on top of that, the song begins with the lines: “When I’m alone in my room sometimes I stare at the wall, and in the back of my mind I hear my conscience call.” This song is certainly a classic, but please recognize its levels of Cottonelle softness.

Honorable Mention(s):

Chingy (Feat. J Weav) – “One Call Away”
Bow Wow (Feat. Omarion) – “Let Me Hold You”
Nelly (Feat. Kelly Rowland) – “Dilemma”
