Jesus Shuttlesworth

Fans will finally get to see Jesus Shuttlesworth’s name on a real NBA court, which sparked interest in a sequel to the film. According to reports from VIBE, Ray Allen said “if we get a really good story line and are able to bring everybody back, then it would be something worth doing.”

Check out more details, and a video explaining the jersey move, after the jump…

Select teams in the NBA will have the opportunity to wear jerseys with their nicknames on their backs instead of their last names. The Miami Heat will be one of them and Ray Allen will be rocking “J. Shuttlesworth” on his back in honor of Jesus Shuttlesworth, the character he played in Spike Lee’s 1998 film, He Got Game.

There’s no word on how Spike feels about a sequel yet, or even Denzel Washington who played Jesus Shuttlesworth father. Stick around to see if this idea comes into fruition. –Keith Reid-Cleveland

I would love to see a well scripted sequel, loved the first joint, the whole nicknames on jerseys thing is a joke to me though, I guess if it’s an established nickname that most of the public is aware of it wouldn’t be too bad, like if Lebron was rockin’ King James on his back, but if dudes are free to put whatever they feel like calling themselves on there I see this getting comically out of hand. lol
