Kanye West has a complicated history with award ceremonies and it looks like this year won’t be any different. On the stage of his Phoenix stop of the Yeezus Tour, Kanye made a brief statement regarding the album only being nominated for two Grammys: Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for “New Slaves.”

“And Yeezus is the top one or two albums on every single list,” said West. “But only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?”

This may be the only comment Kanye makes about the Grammys, but part of me thinks that won’t be the case. Kanye does have a valid point that Yeezus has been received well by many critics but that wasn’t reflected with the amount Grammy nods. Something isn’t adding up. Either Yeezus isn’t all that great or it got seriously overlooked. –Keith Reid-Cleveland
