The curator of cool Solange stopped by The Angie Martinez Show to discuss the meaning of her new compilation album Saint Heron, being a good mother in the industry and being a Knowles. The 27-year-old songstress revealed that her son Julez might be a the next great rapper and already has the stamp of approval from Uncle Jay.

“Hov said he had some potential,” the Saint Records founder said. “He doesn’t freestyle, he’s a writer. And he takes the Eminem approach–as many words as he can put in a bar, however many syllables. It’s interesting because he writes melodies first. And Jay said all the great rappers do that.”

Sol-Angel went on to explain the meaning behind Saint Heron and Saint Records. “Saint Heron is a double meaning. I named my label Saint Records. And I started googling black saints. Saint Heron was actually an Egyptian martyr and simultaneously I was reading Gil Scott Heron.”
