YouTube may be in the business of a premium on-demand music service – much like Spotify. Only theirs will be with video, according to Billboard. The forthcoming service is seemingly scheduled to launch later this year, even though YouTube declined to comment on whether this is fact or fiction.

“We’re always working n new and better ways for people to enjoy YouTube content across all screens, and on giving partners more opportunities to reach their fans,” YouTube said in a statement. “However, we have nothing to announce at this time.”

The service will be designed with mobile listening in mind and will have both a free and paid tier. Billboard reports that the free component “is likely to be unlimited, on-demand access to full tacks on all platforms, including mobile” while the paid tier will likely offer the removal of ads and offline listening.

If this product is to be launched, one key feature listeners can enjoy is the ability to stream full albums, in contrast to YouTube where only one or two singles from an artist’s album is available.

Stay tuned. – Alley Olivier
