Michael B. Jordan, the star of the recent film Fruitvale Station, has landed a major movie role as he will star as The Human Torch in the reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic Four film franchise. With this great piece of news for the young actor there has been some backlash from some of the “Fantastic” fans as his casting is being viewed as a race issue.

The accomplishment of Jordan has not been a harmonic welcome to the comic movie world as it has caused an uproar among fans of the series. Some fans are finding issue with an African-American male being casted in the role of a white hero due to a clash in the original characterization, while some others are praising the switch.

The Inquisitr reported that before Jordan was awarded the role his candidacy was questioned and now that the spot has been confirmed to the young actor, the uproar regarding a switch in skin color for the super hero has reached new heights.

While the race of the casting is continuing to be both criticized and applauded, it displays the signs of change in Hollywood casting. There currently isn’t a release date set for the new Fantastic Four movie.
