Yesterday a representative for DOPE apparel reached out to us at KarenCivil.com against claims made by Cam’ron in an interview that he did not have a legal agreement for a collaborative effort between the two. When questioned about the collaboration, Killa Cam responded:

“This dude calls from from DOPE like, ‘Yo we’re putting out the capsule Cam clothes deal that we made in a couple weeks.’ I never signed off on anything with them. I didn’t cosign on the artwork or designs. I’m not going to allow them to have had conversations with my manager a year and a  half ago about doing something because their company is in trouble, and now they see that I’m doing good in fashion, they think they just ton’ throw this out there. I’m not cosigning that. I’ll put it on Instagram and everything that I’m not doing it.”

Upon hearing the news of Cam’s denial of the agreement, DOPE responded with a picture of the signed contract between the two entities. DOPE has continued to clarify that Cam’ron was approached in December for the release of the capsule collection of tees and hats, in which the Harlem rapper was paid in full and signed the contract. Ultimately, the LA-based apparel company will not release the line of products due to the issues.

DOPE’s Owner Matte Fields released a statement regarding the cancellation of the release:

“I want to apologize to our customers for promoting product that is not going to be released. I understand that this is a disappointment to many and I wish that I was able to release the project in the positive and supportive light it was intended to be. Throughout the creative process I was led to believe that we had the support from Cam’ron and knew nothing of his disproval until after we announced the release of the collection. I was excited for this collaboration and it is unfortunate that I was not able to resolve this amicably with Cam’ron.”

The collections was intended to launch with the new website DOPE.com and the remodeled store located on Fairfax. After the recent developments DOPE has decided to not release the product stating “Although the contract clearly allows us to proceed with the promotion, we believe it is in bad taste to release a collaboration without support from both parties.”

To check out the signed contract between the two companies hit the jump.
