In the newest edition of #ALTV, Al Lindstrom grabbed Punch, the President of Top Dawg Entertainment, to discuss matters involving possibly the hottest and quickest rising entity in Hip-Hop.

During the sit down Punch gave insight on ScHoolBoy Q‘s upcoming project Oxymoron stating that it’s not being created to compete with Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid m.A.A.d city. While including details that Oxymoron would be Q’s story about his South Central experiences, Punch discloses that the release isn’t about comparison of the two aforementioned albums and states in his opinion a more fitting association: “I like to compare it to All Eyez On Me vs Life After Death. Life After Death was sewn together and very cohesive, where All Eyes On Me was crazy record after crazy record”.

Recently we’ve been watching the expansion of TDE, after discussing the once possibility of  signing Chance the Rapper and JMSM, Punch spoke on the signing of SZA who was brought on board a couple years after meeting her at one of Kendrick’s shows. “What struck me was her voice which as very distinctive and then her lyricism, ‘wow ok that’s what we doing’. It’s the same stuff,” Punch added as well as her content is different from that of a traditional singer.

Closing out the interview the Head of TDE spoke on the storm that was Kendrick‘s “Control” verse by simply stating “I think he’s the King of Hip-Hop”. Check out the full interview above.
