Standing alongside his fellow TDE soldiers, Kendrick Lamar took aim at Drake during his turn in a 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher this past weekend. He spit:

“Yeah, and nothing’s been the same since they dropped “Control”/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes/ Ha-ha, jokes on you/High-five, I’m bulletproof/ Your shits a never penetrate/Pin the tail on the donkey boy you been a fake.”

The diss is the first direct shot at the OVO head after his Nothing Was The Same promo run, where Drizzy described the Compton MC’s “Control” verse as nothing more than an inauthentic, fleeting moment.

“It just wasn’t real to me,” the rap-singer said on Hot 97. “I saw him after that and it was just love, so was that real, or was that just for the people? Those were harsh words. You can’t just say that and then see me and be like, ‘Yeah, man, what’s up?’ Pretending like nothing ever happened. To me, that’s not the nature of battling.”

Drizzy mimicked the same sentiment during his CRWN sitdown. “[Kendrick] is giving people moments,” he said, “but are you listening to it now at this point in time? It was real cool for a couple weeks. If I asked you, for example, how does that verse start?” YN didn’t know, but Drake went on to say, “Mind you, it’ll go on Complex and Rap Radar and they’ll will give it like, verse of the millennium and all that shit or whatever.”

Do we have another Jay Z and Nas-style beef brewing, folks? Tune in to watch the full cypher during the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards on Tuesday, October 15 at 8 p.m. EST.
