It’s amazing what a wicked elixir of talent, hard work and luck can do for a career. Atlanta MC (by way of Virginia) Phil The Thrill isn’t anywhere near what his end goal likely is, but he’s come quite a ways already.

The beginning of his “FTL$” video (an acronym you’ll soon understand the meaning of once the vintage Bone Thugs sample kicks in) features a brief video chat he had with Don Cannon. It was Cannon who discovered Phil’s music via this very site – proof that you never know who reads these words who clicks play on the music.

From there, Phil jumps into the rest of the video which features a look into the life of a MC chasing a dream and trying not to get caught up by bills. There’s no jewelry, rented car or video vixens (at least not yet). Instead, there’s a shirt and tie, metro card and a 9-5.

Doesn’t get much more honest than that.
