While on the promo run for Nothing Was The Same, Drake stopped by Hot 97 on Tuesday (Sept. 24) for a very open interview with Angie Martinez about the industry, past relationships (as always) and, most importantly, his thoughts on Kendrick’s “Control” verse.

“It just wasn’t real to me,” the “Hold On, We’re Going Home” singer said. “I saw him after that and it was just love, so was that real, or was that just for the people? Those were harsh words. You can’t just say that and then see me and be like, ‘Yeah, man, what’s up?’ Pretending like nothing ever happened. To me, that’s not the nature of battling.”

Drake went on to add that he’s “not the guy” to come for, “especially when it comes to rap.” Although Drizzy remained humble throughout the interview, he assured, “I do have the best album of the year though.” Sound familiar? – Shanae Hatchett
