Kanye West has been charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft for attacking paparazzo Daniel Ramos on July 19, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office said Friday (Sept. 13).

According to TMZ, who broke the original story, Yeezus argued with the alleged victim and forced him to the ground during a scuffle at LAX. Ramos claims that the “Bound 2” rapper was unprovoked and tried to take his camera.

“I told him twice, ‘I don’t want to fight you,'” Ramos said at an August press conference. “However, he attacked me anyway.”

No doubt Mr. West has an unhealthy relationship with unauthorized photogs (see: “Don’t ever talk” rant), but the two charges Ye faces for taking an ill shot at a member of the media could land him in jail for a maximum of 1 year. Guess it’s time to tuck those punches in.

An arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 10.
