The release of the Air Jordan 11 Concords has been causing a shopping frenzy after the limited edition shoes were released at midnight.

Late Thursday, Twitter was abuzz that an 18-year-old D.C. boy, Tyreek Amir Jacobs, was killed trying to buy the shoes.

That seems to be an internet hoax however and according to The Baltimore Sun, Jacobs’ photo is a fake; a random picture pulled from an NAACP website.

Police in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia area also report that they’ve had no reports of a murder over the sneakers.

One report that is true however, is that of an Atlanta woman who left her two young children in her car at a mall parking lot.

According to authorities, the children had been in the car for “quite a while” before they broke her car window to get them out.

When she returned to her vehicle she was arrested.

There have been reports in other states of issues with the sneakers including a group in North Carolina who smashed glass doors to get to them and a man in Richmond California who fired a gunshot in the air.

In Seattle police used pepper spray on an unruly crowd of shoppers.

Michael Jordan’s daughter was recently asked on Twitter to comment on the melee the sneakers are causing.

Her response?

How sympathetic…I guess you can see what matters most in that family.
