Shawty Redd, the producer who became famous largely after his work with Young Jeezy years ago as well as Snoop’s “Sexual Eruption,” just received the best news of his entire life. He was found not guilty in a murder case which has taken up the majority of his time since New Years Day 2010. On that day, Redd, born Demetrius Stewart, was charged with the murder of Damon Martin at his Hampton, Georgia, home. MTV News got the word first that he was cleared of the murder and all other charges as well.

In a statement to MTV, Redd’s lawyer, Ashutosh Joshi, said:

“The defense [in the trial] was clearly self-defense,” Joshi told MTV. “We argued that Redd’s life was threatened both verbally and physically, and this occurred in his home and that he shot this gentleman as a result of that.”

I couldn’t have been the only one who thought of Gucci Mane’s murder case from awhile back when hearing the specifics. The big difference being Gucci’s case was dropped why Shawty’s went to trial.
