Those familiar with Clifford’s catalog know Pharrell has been a frequent contributor since his first album I’m Serious. Since then, they’ve collaborated on most of Tip’s albums and even a few mixtape cuts (remember these two and Dro jumping over Jeezy’s “Trap Or Die”?). Keeping it current, T.I.’s 2011 post-prison tour continues with the newest offering featuring the aforementioned Skateboard P for “Hear Ye, Hear Ye.”

Pharrell’s showing wasn’t anything to frown upon. His “wealth” “common” line was dope, but that’s probably because I’m from Virginia and it’ll probably fly over most heads because VA is a commonwealth state. What that means is something for another time and conversation, but just know I enjoyed it although I swear I’ve heard that flip before. But the moment T.I. starts talking about Big Phil, things really pick up a notch.

“Layin’ in the prison cell staring at the ceiling
Back in this bitch again guess they wasn’t bullshittin’
Still wonder where it all went wrong
Since Phil got killed I ain’t never moved on
Like I’m still in the club where the blows got thrown
Where my crown fell down and I got dethroned
Bunch of niggas around but I feel all alone
Like a piece of me is missing guess it never came home
Probably died in the van when it all hit the fan
Save the life of a friend we don’t all get the chance
Now here I stand with blood on my hands
Tryin’ hard to explain so his mom understand
I’m at fault for the loss of the soul of a man
Only soldiers know how that’ll take a toll on a man…”

Glad to see Tip has hit the ground running. If I’m not mistaken, this may be the first time Tip really addressed the night Phil died on record. “Bread Up” with Scarface did too, but not exactly about the actual shooting. Regardless, this has already been added to the weekend rotation.
