Hip Hop is still recovering from the recent passing of the legendary Gil Scott Heron. The Source caught up with Pharrell and Shay (well, really just Pharrell) as they relayed some brief comments about the spoken word artist who had such an impact on the genre they helped create classics for. (Skateboard) P, personally, explains how Heron influenced him.

G.S.H.’s public viewing is tomorrow at New York’s Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home at 81st Street and Madison Avenue. My mom went to Luther Vandross’ memorial service back in 2005. I won’t lie to you. I thought it was somewhat odd, but she explained how many people attended the event from all over the country (and her meeting Patti LaBelle) and how much the music meant to her. I’m sure Heron has had the same effect on people. So if you’re in the NY area tomorrow and want to pay respect to Gil Scott, you now to know the info.
