Here’s an exerpt from the press release which describes why this track was made and the inspiration behind Omen’s new tape.

Black Hero Theme Musik is a collective, collaborative project from Grammy winning producer Omen; it brings back the soul of the 70s with hard drums and current flows. The first single, “Negro Spiritual”, was released today and is performed by Mickey Factz, Ashton Travis, Nickelus F, Luckie Day, and the C3 Choir. The concept of the song, Produced by Omen and Audio BLK for Elaborate Musik Orchestra (EMO), is about breaking free of creative oppression and the segregation of hip-hop. The full mixtape, which has a host of new artists and some old, will be released mid-April.

I think it is a dope concept mainly because I am a fan of ’70s soul music. It should be interesting to hear this project and Fab’s new tape since they’re both incorporating the same aspect.
