Lil Kim did it. T.I. did as well and Lil Boosie had maybe the most genuine to date. All three rappers have done what Ja Rule is preparing to do – document his life’s journey leading up to the day he begins his two year prison sentence. The charge stems from a 2007 arrest on weapons possession (ironically Lil Wayne was apprehended that very same night for which he later served at Rikers Island). While the reality show will undoubtedly circle around Ja’s date with fate and the effects it has on those around him, he says it will also showcase the importance of having a strong foundation (family) through extremely trying times.

“…it’s showing a strong black family going through a tough time. And how we band together as a family and how my wife and kids… bond together during this tough time when I have to go in…” the multi-platinum rapper explained, as reported by allhiphop.com.

The former face of Murder Inc. has been locking himself in Miami studios completing his new project Renaissance Project. I, like probably all of us, have been critical of Rule in the past. Let’s be honest, he’s deserved it at times. Here’s to he and his family making it through this time (and anyone else going through the same situation). It’s never fun having to talk to someone through a glass or public visitation rooms.
