Last year, most people were taken back when finding out the numbers Nas would be forced to pay his ex-wife Kelis as apart of their divorce settlement. The original deal found Jones paying her somewhere along the lines of $50,000 a month in both child and spousal support.

For anyone going through a divorce, it can be such a tough time for both parties. It can also be a lot financially too. You’re not going to be living with your partner any longer after this, so getting the funds to buy a new place is something that one of you is going to have to think about. So it comes as no surprise to find that some people may have opted to take out a bridging loan to help them pay for the divorce settlement. This type of loan can be used to release capital associated with the previous property. If this is something you are considering, be sure to do your research so you have an understanding of what’s involved. The whole divorce process can be a lot, but it can be made a lot less stressful if you take the right steps.

That didn’t last so long. Allegedly, documents were filed in a Los Angeles Superior Court, and now those payments are now slashed in half with “only” $5,000/month in child support and (still a whooping) $20,000/month in spousal support.

This is still a lot of money. So much that some people who are married or divorced will never see in their lifetime. But it doesn’t mean that they’re not eligible for a certain sum of benefits. If you know that your spouse or ex-spouse has been paying into the social security scheme during their working life, then you may be able to qualify for Social Security spousal benefits, if you match the guidelines, regardless of whether you are together or not. This could prove to be beneficial in establishing financial stability, as well as being able to support any children that you share together. For Kelis, her settlement is still decent.
