Lloyd – “Lay It Down”

I’ve always seen Lloyd as a singer who never really got the credit he’s due. Maybe I’m overrating him, maybe I’m not, but I’ve always been a fan of his music. Lessons In Love was a dope album and one of my favorites from 2008. That said, it is good to see he has another album, King Of Hearts, set to drop by the end of this year. The first single is the Polow Da Don produced “Lay It Down.”

Borrowing the catchy line used by acts like Al Green, Tony Toni Tone and even Jim Reeves, the former Murder Inc. crooner puts his own spin on it and may have a nice tune heading into the fall months. The only part I’m not a fan of is the yodeling towards the end. I could’ve done without that.

This song is a smash. It already has a home on Chauncey’s Top 40. I’m giving this song mad spins! It’s only a matter of time before this is burning up the airwaves. I see no reason why this wouldn’t cross over to CHR and end up giving him a top 10 Billboard hit.
